How ModmyGTA changed the modding community and how it will change, everything, again!
With the recently announced relaunch of our other network website, ModmyGTA, we thought it might be interesting to do a recap for those unfamiliar with ModmyGTA, so that's exactly what this is, so if you are interested in some Grand Theft Auto history, read on!

Starting back in 2008, back when Grand Theft Auto IV wasn't even released yet, before we even started Rockstar Informer, we started off with GTA4Mods which was just Grand Theft Auto related news at that time.

Soon after, GTA4Mods featured modifications after the game launched but sometime after we became big some other community decided to do a little domainsquatting, and that's how GTA4-Mods came to exist, we moved to ModmyGTA but had regular attacks and they eventually caused us to shut down after the GTA4 modding community went stale.

The community that was and still is behind these websites was the first of its kind, GTA4Mods and ModmyGTA proved that a multiplayer modding community could exist, and it had success by doing so. While regular gamers were against modding in multiplayer, Rockstar eventually split the Grand Theft Auto community in 2 parts.

In short, this meant that regular gamers could enjoy they game without being bugged with mods in multiplayer and that the modders could hang out with the modders without annoying anyone else. This approach seems to work though it is not an ideal solution.

Nevertheless, ModmyGTA organized several online gatherings. Not long after these gatherings became so popular that we ended up hosting 5, 6 or more different sessions to get everybody into the action. At the time ModmyGTA was the place to be, if you will, for any Grand Theft Auto modder.

With over 14,000 members it was the #1 and most active modding community in the Grand Theft Auto scene at that time. Now, almost 3 years later, ModmyGTA is back, with an all-new service to power its new community, we're in for the long run.

ModmyGTA and PayneMods are new, unique, social networks for Grand Theft Auto & Max Payne players, fans and modders. These new platforms offer their users a rock-solid experience that can't be found anywhere else. For the first time in the history of Grand Theft Auto, sharing your ideas, mods, media and information has never been easier!

New features in ModmyGTA offer a new social aspect to the modding community, with the ability to create, tweak and stylize your own profile and keeping taps on what your friends and fellow modders are doing or creating, the new service will without a doubt be very useful to the modding community.

So far it seems that there have only been positive reactions to the relaunch. One of our veteran members, CriticalHit_NL is optimistic about the relaunch, "Finally, the home of Grand Theft Auto modding and modding news has returned! Judging by the trailer I expect it to be way more user friendly. I can't wait!".

It seems that with the announcement of Grand Theft Auto V and the relaunch of ModmyGTA, the good o'l days are destined to come back, be sure to keep tabs on this hot item via twitter via @RockstarInform!
